6-Week Summer Acting Intensive

This 6 week class offers the student the opportunity to work on three separate genres of Dramatic Literature.  Weeks One and Two we explore the work of Contemporary Writers, establishing a foundation on approaching the text with rigorous Script Analysis and Physical Action.  Weeks 3 and 4 find us exploring the writers of Classic American Drama, adding Period Research to our foundation. Weeks 5 and 6 bring us to Shakespeare, where the student will learn the fundamentals of how to approach the Poetry and make it accessible and alive. The Intensive culminates with The Sonnet Project, a Scene Performance for friends and family.

 

Acting For The Camera w/ Lawrence Ballard

The class is designed to give the students a fundamental understanding of acting for the camera. From the audition to working on set. It exposes the student to watching themselves on screen and improves their ability to analyze their performance objectively and not focus solely on their image.  It also gives the actors something most lack in their early experiences: confidence. Students will be filmed in the class and then given the opportunity in class to get feed back and hone their own analysis of their work. 

 

8-Week Scene Study: Sam Shepard

Saturdays starting May 11th - July 6th | 11:00-2:00 PM (No class on May 25th)

This 8-week class focuses on the plays of Sam Shepard.  Students will explore the themes and ideas of a writer who was one the most influential Dramatists of his generation, through rigorous Script Analysis, Physical Exploration, with a lengthy rehearsal process.

Sam Shepard wrote over 50 plays.  He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for Buried Child and was a 10 time Obie as a writer and director. 

 

Scene Study: The Mike Nichols Project

Cost: $500 ($250 to enroll, $250 by final week)
Mondays May 13th - July 29th | 6:00-9:00 PM (No class on May 27th, July 15th)

In this 10 week course students will explore the plays directed by the legendary Director Mike Nichols. Winner of 7 Tony Awards for Best Director, the highest total in the history of the Tony's, Mike Nichols work spanned genres in a way like no other-Simon, Pinter, Chekov, Rabe, Beckett, Odets, Miller, among many others. Students will choose a scene from these plays and explore them through rigorous script analysis, research, and physical exploration.

This class Culminates in a Scene Night Performance for friends and family.
